People ask me constantly what hardware wallet I actually use, and my answer has been the D’CENT wallet. It supports XRP, XDC, XLM, and HBAR in one device, which matters if you’re holding more than one asset and don’t want to juggle five different cold storage setups.

Why cold storage matters in the first place
A hardware wallet keeps your private keys offline, isolated from any internet-connected device. Even if your laptop or phone is compromised, the keys never touch that machine. Signing happens on the device itself. That’s the entire point of cold storage: it removes the attack surface that exchange hacks, malware, and phishing pages depend on. If you’re holding digital assets you actually intend to keep for the long haul rather than trade daily, moving them off an exchange and into a device you control is the single biggest security upgrade you can make.
What to look for in a multi-asset wallet
Not every hardware wallet supports every ledger. XRP, XDC, XLM, and HBAR each have their own account structures, and support for one doesn’t guarantee support for the others. Before you buy anything, confirm the wallet natively supports every asset you actually hold, check how firmware updates are verified, and understand the backup and recovery process cold, because you will eventually need it. A wallet that’s easy to use day to day but painful to recover from a lost seed phrase isn’t actually secure, it’s just inconvenient in a different order.
My take
I recommend D’CENT because it covers the assets I actually hold and the security model is sound. If you want to check it out, here’s the link I use: store.dcentwallet.com/o1cddj. Whatever wallet you choose, the habit matters more than the brand: get meaningful holdings off exchanges and into keys you control, verify your recovery phrase works before you need it, and treat that seed phrase like the most sensitive document you own. The SEC’s crypto asset resources are also a decent starting point if you want a regulator’s framing of custody risk generally.
