Securitize, Archax & Institutional RWA Tokenization

NYSE is now formally exploring tokenized securities with Securitize

The New York Stock Exchange and Securitize signed a memorandum of understanding to support tokenized securities, a step that moves institutional RWA tokenization from a talking point at conferences into something with an actual paper trail at one of the world’s largest exchanges. An MOU isn’t a launched product, but it’s a meaningfully different signal than a startup announcing tokenization plans on its own.

Securitize’s regulatory positioning

Securitize has also submitted written input directly to the SEC’s Crypto Task Force, laying out its view on how tokenized securities should be regulated. That’s worth reading if you want to understand the industry’s actual regulatory asks rather than guessing at them from press coverage, since it’s Securitize making its case in its own words to the regulator that will ultimately decide the rules it operates under.

Archax and the UK’s regulated approach

Across the Atlantic, Archax became the first digital securities exchange regulated by the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority, a distinct path toward the same goal: giving tokenized securities a home inside an existing regulatory perimeter rather than operating in a gray area. That regulatory-first approach is a deliberate strategy difference from platforms that launch first and seek approval later.

Why the international bodies are paying attention

IOSCO, the international standard-setter for securities regulators, published a final report on financial asset tokenization that global regulators use as a reference point when writing their own domestic rules. When multiple jurisdictions, the US through the SEC, the UK through the FCA, and international bodies like IOSCO, converge on the same subject, that’s a sign institutional RWA tokenization has moved past the experimental stage into active rulemaking.

What this doesn’t mean yet

An MOU, a regulatory submission, and a licensing approval are all groundwork, not proof that tokenized securities are trading at meaningful volume today. Treat each of these as a piece of infrastructure being built, not a finished product you can already access.
