What to Do When Your XRP Price Appreciates

If your XRP position appreciates significantly and you don’t have the capital yet to set up the LLC structure I usually recommend, the plan doesn’t change much. Keep it on a cold wallet. Sit on your hands. People get excited when their assets move, and excitement is exactly when bad financial decisions get made.

Treat it like a lottery win, because structurally it is

If you want a preview of what sudden wealth actually does to people, look at the research on lottery winners. The first piece of advice that shows up over and over is simple: don’t tell anybody. Not your extended family, not your friends, not social media. Tell three people and three people only: your attorney, your CPA, and your spouse. If you don’t already have an attorney and a CPA, that’s the first thing to fix, before you need them, not after.

Give yourself six months before you do anything

After that, sit on it for six months. Keep working. Keep living on your normal cash flow instead of your new one. That waiting period isn’t about missing opportunities, it’s about giving yourself time to get used to having the money without making a rushed decision you can’t undo. Use that six months for something specific: get your financial education in order, and start surrounding yourself with the right professionals, an attorney, a CPA, and an advisor who understands digital assets specifically.

Do the preparation before you need it

The honest framing here is that if you’re meaningfully invested in digital assets, a large, fast move in value is a real possibility worth planning for now, not after it happens. That’s not a promise of what your specific position will do. It’s a reason to get the financial education and the professional relationships in place while you have time to think clearly, instead of scrambling for them the week your net worth changes.

Educational only, not tax, legal, or investment advice. Check primary sources and speak with a qualified professional before making financial decisions.
